Why should I need or want a wedding planner?

The question of all questions... why do I need a wedding planner? Why should I spend money on that? Why does everyone keep suggesting to book a planner? It's funny, when you ask brides who have already gone through their special day, 9 times out of 10, they will state a comment like, "I wish I would've had a wedding planner."
